Disciple of Jesus?

The devil has constructed many lies about who Christ Jesus is and what He taught. Some say He was just a man who studied Eastern mysticism and become enlightened, while others say He was just a great philosopher and rebel against the tyrannical roman empire. Yet, those are lies formed to dissuade you from the truth, that Jesus is the Almighty God above all who is one with the Father (the Spirit) and He created all things in the beginning of time (Colossians 1, Hebrews 1, John 1).

Jesus is God manifested in the flesh (1 Tim 3:16, Isaiah 9:6), who lived a sinless life and died for our sins on the cross (Isaiah 53, John 3:16) and rose again as proof that we will also be resurrected with Him to be partakers of His inheritance. God was in Christ reconciling us back to Himself (reference 2 Corinthians 5:19).

Jesus said we must be born again of water and of the Holy Spirit (John 3:5), and we do this by keeping His words and believing in Him:

John 14:15-21 KJV — If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth (Holy Spirit); whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

The Words of Life

* Jesus tells us clearly how to be reconciled to Him:

1 John 5:3 KJV — For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

* Following Jesus has been the most challenging thing I have done, but after experiencing His love, there is nothing more that I want than to see Him at the end of my life and hear "well done, good and faithful servant." It comes with great troubles, but great rewards, everlasting rewards!

Luke 9:23 KJV — And (Jesus/Yeshua) he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

* You may have to lose your family, your job, your best friend, you favorite sin, but it will all be worth it in the end.

John 15:17-19 KJV — These things I (Jesus/Yeshua) command you, that ye love one another. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

1 John 2:1-4 ASV — My little children, these things write I unto you that ye may not sin. And if any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the whole world. And hereby we know that we know
him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;

* We are called to be Holy, to be a new creation in Christ, walking in His Spirit.

Matthew 19:16-21 ASV — And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why askest thou me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which?

And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honor thy father and thy mother; and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. The young man saith unto him, All these things have I observed: what lack I yet?
Jesus said unto him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell that which thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

* We must keep His law, it brings life, peace, justice, and harmony between God and all of His creation.

Matthew 22:35-40 ASV — And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, trying him: Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law? And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second like unto it is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments the whole law hangeth, and the prophets.

* We could live a life in the world and be praise by men, but if we follow Jesus we will reap eternal rewards in Heaven.

John 14:21 KJV — He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

* Jesus gives us commands which may not be easy sometimes but they are good and they are root in unselfish love.

Romans 13:8-10 ASV — Owe no man anything, save to love one another: for he that loveth his neighbor hath fulfilled the law.

For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not covet, and if there be any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: love therefore is the fulfilment of the law.

* Let us all strive to enter into the narrow gate of salvation, because many false converts are headed to hell.

Matthew 7:20-23 ASV — Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

We must endure in sound doctrine, keeping the word of truth close to our heart, and seeking the things above and not below. Always continue in the faith, no matter how hopeless things seem to be, no matter how hard the world and the spiritual wickedness fights against you. Endure and continue as a disciple of Jesus and a student of the Bible and obedient to the Spirit and sanctification and you will overcome.
