Lose Your Life

I believe Jesus meant more than one thing in this saying (Matthew 16:25). When we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, we will have to lay down or give up our current "life" meaning the things that are important to us but not of God.

Matthew 16:25 KJV - For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

For instance, we will have to put Him first in all our doings, such as our life goals, ambitions, wordly desires, lusts of the flesh, and our old sinful life. We will have to keep His commands and if it comes to it, even lay down our own physical life here on Earth.

Satan will use all things against us, anything he can find to leverage against our relationship with Christ. Satan will be allowed to tempt you to see if your heart is truly for God, to see if you will love the world, the things of the world, or your own sin more than Him who gave life to you.

Satan will seek any weak point in your walk, and exploit it - as a roaring lion seeking whom to devour. He can use friends, family, and those closest to you. Study Jesus' life. We wrestle  not against flesh and blood, so Satan can use people in your life to lure you away from your calling as a set apart and sanctified Child of Father God. Walking according to His commandments:

John 14:15 KJV  - If ye love me (Jesus/God), keep my commandments.

So we must be willing to put it all down for our pursuit of Christ and the crown of eternal life that He has paid for with His own blood. The first and greatest commandment is to love your God with all your heart, mind, and soul.

Matthew 22:37-40 KJV - Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment. [39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [40] On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Just as a wife, a brother, Father, etc., if you love them, you would spend time getting to know them, doing the things they like, honoring them with love and respect. Even more so, that is how your relationship with Jesus/God should be.

Spend time studying His word, praying, fasting, and fighting the flesh as much as humanly possible, that way we can fulfill the new law of the Spirit:

Galatians 5:16-25 KJV - This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. [17] For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. [18] But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. [19] Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these ; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, [20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, [21] Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. [22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [23] Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. [24] And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. [25] If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

We should be seeking to know what our calling is on our life:

Ephesians 4:11-13 KJV - And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; [12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: [13] Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Let us enter into His glorious presence by offering up thanksgiving and worshipping Him for all His mighty and glorious works.

Psalm 50:14-15 KJV - Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: [15] And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

God was manifested in the flesh to take upon our sins (2 Corinthians 5:19), and to reconcile us (humanity) back to Himself. Isaiah, a major prophet of old, prophesied the sacrifice He was to make long before He was born a man :

Isaiah 53:1-12 KJV - Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? [2] For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. [3] He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. [4] Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. [5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. [6] All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. [7] He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. [8] He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. [9] And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. [10] Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. [11] He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. [12] Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

1 Thessalonians 5:21-23 KJV - Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. [22] Abstain from all appearance of evil. [23] And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Your ultimate goal in life must be to know Me, The One whom it is all about, to have your own personal Relationship with Me, to be in My Perfect Will and to reach the right end destination at the end of your journey, or it will be all in vain. You must stay on course to be able to reach your end destination successfully. You must run the race set before you with endurance and perseverance and according to My Rules, to receive the prize of Eternal Life at the end.
Many have the wrong goals in life and that is why they will be very disappointed when they reach the wrong end destination, but will only have themselves to blame.
I Created and Called you for a specific Plan and Purpose in My Everlasting Kingdom. Your ultimate goal must be to fulfill your part. I force no one. You will all give account for your own deeds, good or evil. My Gift’s and Calling are irrevocable.
Your priorities must be right to be successful in your ultimate goal. Listen to, obey and follow Me, My Way only, as I Guide and Lead you, every step of the Way. Take one step at a time and stay with Me all the Way, until the very end. Your reward is with Me.
Let your ultimate goal be: Be pleasing to Me and be found worthy to Inherit My Everlasting Kingdom. Live your lives in such a way that I will be Glorified. Be children of Light and not of darkness. Press on, do not look back and never give up on Me and My Everlasting Kingdom. Strive hard to be able to enter through the Narrow Door for many will try but will not be able. Your ultimate goal matters and nothing else.
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me Heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:12-14
